Privacy policy
Septic Help (ABN: [ABN to be inserted]) — last reviewed . We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This page says what we collect, why, and who sees it — in plain English.
What we collect
If you just read our guides, we collect no personal details. We collect personal information only when you give it to us:
- Quote form (/get-quotes/): your postcode, what you need done, property type, name, phone number, email address, and anything you type in the message box.
- Email: whatever you include when you write to hello@septichelp.com.au.
- Analytics: standard usage data — pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type. We use this in aggregate to see which guides help people; we don't use it to identify you.
How we use quote details — the important bit
Septic Help is a referral service. When you submit the quote form and tick the consent box, we pass your details to matched accredited local operators — typically up to three businesses licensed for your state that cover your postcode — so they can contact you about your enquiry by phone or email. Those operators may pay us a referral fee. That's how we make money, and it's disclosed on our about page.
We don't sell your details to list brokers or marketers, we don't pass them to anyone other than the matched operators and our own service providers, and we don't sign you up to newsletters you didn't ask for. Once an operator has your details, their handling of them is covered by their own privacy practices — if you have concerns about a specific operator, tell us.
Storage and service providers
Enquiries are stored with the form and hosting providers we use to run the site. We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to make the referral, handle any follow-up, and meet record-keeping obligations, then delete them.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email hello@septichelp.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days. Note that we can't recall details already passed to an operator, but we can ask them to delete your enquiry on your behalf.
If you're not happy with how we've handled a privacy complaint, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed for the site and its analytics to work. We don't run advertising trackers.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and its review date. Material changes to how quote details are shared will be reflected in the consent wording on the form itself.
